St. Paul and Minneapolis seemed like a cool place to go on the weekends -- 40 miles away. Some people did so on Friday night.

Lots of used bookshops, a record store, Sweet Lou's of course, the Contented Cow (a pub), a good Indian restaurant... Northfield's not exactly St. Paul, but it's a great area nonetheles

Northfield is a small town, readily avaiable to the campus. There are several restaurants that would appeal to students, with not unreasonable prices. St. Olaf is just down the road. Students are not allowed cars, but the Twin Cities are 35 mi away and

It's a small town, so dining options are limited. But there are good coffee houses and shopping available for a town this size.
