Visit to Case Western Reserve University in July 2006 by aphoticmelody (Student, HS Class of 2006)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - The presenter was very nice and not horribly boring. She seemed passionate and didn't waste time talking about areas that the attendees weren't interested in (i.e., business when none mentioned that as an interest). Campus Tour:
Yes - Covered most of campus, tour guide was helpful & nice. Classroom Visit:
No - No classes during the summer.
Case Western Reserve University Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 3 - Good -
Only talked to the tour guide, really. Very few students during the summer.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 5 - Excellent -
All were very helpful & friendly, even the security guard for the athletic complex.
Appearance of Campus: 4 - Very Good -
Clean, not as old-fashioned as I personally like, but nice nonetheless.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 4 - Very Good Dormitories: 3 - Good -
The rooms themselves were nice, but the buildings & lounges left something to be desired.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent -
Looked safe, and the security guard was very kind & reassuring.
Overall Campus Impression: 4 - Very Good -
Wouldn't mind going here at all, I don't think. :)
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 3 - Good -
The farther you get, the less nice it gets. Honestly didn't explore too much.
City/Town/Community: 3 - Good -
It's Cleveland - rather self-explanatory. Some poor/uneducated areas close to campus.
Campus Visit Notes for Case Western Reserve University:
Visit Description:
Did the info session first, then the tour. Rather long visit - should've brought more water/food (they did give out water bottles, though). You get to see a typical freshman dorm room, the new apartment complex, a lecture hall, a classroom, etc. (All typical fare.) Don't have much to compare it to. XD The campus is basically divided into the engineering/science side and the humanities side, and seems to have excellent science facilities.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Parking was close to the admissions building, free if you took a tour, and easy to locate.
