Information Session: Yes - Quite informative for a college information session, considering they all mostly regurgitate information that can already be found on the website ;]... talked about both colleges, majors, life, etc.

Campus Tour: Yes - The girl was a self-proclaimed obsessor of Columbia and grew up in the city, so she knew various fun-facts about the school and such... good tour, saw all exterior stuff, but no classrooms, sadly =|

Campus Visit Notes for Columbia University

Visit Description:

Visiting Columbia University was a no-brainer for me, personally, because I live so close to the city and am there practically all of the time. I have seen // walked through the campus before, but never had an official college "visit" until this time. I absolutely loved everything about it! The information session was pretty informative and the admissions officer went over some stuff about majors, both of the schools, graduate schools, dorms, student life, application information, test scores, essays, etc. Our tour guide was very nice and personable and had many funny anecdotes to share about the school.... (she even showed us the statue that they filmed an episode of Gossip Girl by!!! it's supposed to take place at Yale, though..) Unfortunately, though, the only downfall is that we did not actually go into any of the many buildings to see classrooms, dorms, anything!! We were only in one of the buildings for the campus tour, and a welcome center in the Low Library (the gorgeous rotunda-fronted building that is the center of campus...). Overall, though I would say that it was a great campus visit.. one that I vividly remember, even amongst all of the other ones I have taken this past spring // summer! (Definately a plus for any school!!!)
