Visit to Dartmouth College in March 2008 by volleysnap (Student, HS Class of 2008)
Visit Activities:
Campus Tour:
Yes - Our tour guide was excellent and did not seem to be just restating what he had been trained to say. Everything he said seemed honest and was extremely useful.
Dartmouth College Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent -
I talked to a couple of random students who we happened to run into and they couldn't emphasize enough how much they loved Dartmouth. They answered every question I had for them.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 5 - Excellent Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent -
I never knew I could love snow this much-and I'm from a very snowy place!
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent Dormitories: 5 - Excellent -
I didn't have a chance to go inside a dormitory but the outsides were extremely nice and I was told they are in the process of renovating many of the old dorms.
Security/Safety: 4 - Very Good Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent -
The tour of the campus made Dartmouth easily my first choice. It is beautiful here.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 5 - Excellent -
You will be with me on this one if you like the outdoors. The town isn't huge at all, but there is plenty to do there. The surrounding area is beautiful like the campus.
City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent
Campus Visit Notes for Dartmouth College:
Visit Description:
Visiting Dartmouth made all the difference for me. The atmosphere was great-the campus is self-contained, but the surrounding town and wilderness seem to play a big role in that. There was fresh snow today and all of the roads and sidewalks were a mess, but I even loved that. The buildings were beautiful and the students very friendly. I just got a great feeling overall and now consider Dartmouth my top choice for next year.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
I stayed at the Hanover Inn with my dad and really enjoyed it. The rooms are nice and the location is really great for walking around campus.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
I ate at Molly's, Mai Tai, and Lou's and all were amazing.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Parking wasn't too difficult.
