Visit to Davidson College in March 2008 by aaron981 (Student, HS Class of 2009)
Visit Activities:
Information Session: Yes - Was very informative, all questions were answered. Described the "Debt-Free" concept very well. Presenter was very upbeat and involved.
Campus Tour: Yes - Covered all major areas of the campus and all questions were addressed by the guide if asked. Described her own experiences at Davidson, rather than just reading from a script.
Classroom Visit: Yes - Students in both classes I attended were very involved in open discussion. Professors made prospective students feel very comfortable. Classes were interesting as a whole.
Davidson College Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Wow, everyone seems extremely happy at Davidson and everyone is very willing to answer any question. In fact, Stephen Curry, even gave me an autograph!
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - Professors were very nice to prospective students, however admissions officer seemed a tad disgruntled. However, this was probably due to the huge size of the tour that was scheduled that day.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The campus is amazing and is extremely inviting and cozy. It really is a land of its own, the town of Davidson being the perfect compliment to the "paradise" of the Davidson campus.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 3 - Good 3 - Good - The buildings seemed a bit technologically behind, and could use some renovation. Some could argue it adds to the historic feel of the campus, however certain buildings are lacking in modernness.
Dormitories: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The dorms I saw were big relative to the other dormitories I saw at other colleges.
   Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Honor Code. Enough said.

Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Very "cute" town, has enough restaurants and is also extremely safe.
   City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Davidson is a college town, there really isn't much beyond the college and a few stores/restaurants/hotels.
Campus Visit Notes for Davidson College:
Visit Description: I was highly impressed by my overall visit to Davidson. The classes were interesting, the campus beautiful, and the students extremely friendly. The area around the campus is a place I would feel safe walking around in the middle of the night. The Honor Code at Davidson is a testament to the honesty and integrity of students. The students are clearly very active; I believe about 80% of students participate in some form of athletics. Overall, Davidson is one of the premier liberal-arts colleges in the nation. It provides a wonderful blend of academics, atmosphere, and athletics.

Go Wildcats!

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments: N/A

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments: The Soda Shop is a good place to stop for some "local color", however the wait can be a bit long during rush hour.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.): Parking was easy to find.
