Campus Visit Notes for Denison University:
Visit Description: The campus and facilities are striking. Their endowment is large and is reflected in grant aid to students. Internship opportunties are vast due to the connections with alumni. Study abroad opportunites are carefully investigated by dedicated staff. Denison offers the best of both worlds: small community of scholars yet a shuttle bus away from civilization. Curriculum sounds rigorous. 40% of women join sororities; less boys join the fraternities, but are popular. Student population hails from almost every state in the union and 10% internationals. Not too much racial diversity and groups seems to divide according to race. Students seemed bright and outgoing and very involved with extraciricular activities. The two acapella groups are phenominal. (One all woman, one all boys) I would describe the students as upper middle class for the most part. Many hail from private high schools or boarding schools. Athletics felt important. Sounds like Denisonians study hard, but know how to party!

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments: Local B&B's are the place to stay. If that's not your thing head down the road to Newark where you will find a Marriott and other chains.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments: We ate at Denison. Food is their weak link. Ok, but I have had better college food.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.): Everyone can have a car on campus and there is a new parking garage underground. Doesn't seem to be a parking problem.
