Campus Visit Notes for Duke University:
Visit Description:
I loved it, although the security officers weren't exactly the most amiable people, they were friendly and helpful (which is their job). First I went into the admissions office auditorium area, where I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful admissions officer. I was able to find all the information I was looking for. Then I went into the auditorium for the information session (explained above), and was very relieved that Duke does not look at the writing section. Then several tour guides came in and handed out water bottles before we started the campus tour. I liked the overall feel of the campus, and absolutely loved the gothic architecture. I think our tour guide mentioned that when they built West Campus and redid East Campus in 1924, they wanted the school to feel like an Ivy campus, and the architecture was ed after either Princeton or Yale (I can't remember which one). Overall, I was very impressed with the campus and the admissions officers and tour guide.
