Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - A slick video followed by detailed info and Q&A with an admissions counselor. The session really emphasized the "Elon Experience": Service, Study Abroad, Internships, Research.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Absolutely gorgeous. You could tell there's an "old" section and a "new" section, but they blend nicely. Many stately trees and lovely fountains.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
We asked where to find a map and one of the students went out of his way to lead us to the info desk.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
Kind and charming. But, a little "canned" and rehearsed in their interactions with the crowd. Think Disney-esque.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Beautiful. Can't think of one negative.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Great.
Dormitories:
I don't think we saw one. (The multi-school trip is a blur.) But, I do recall that the dining hall was very impressive.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
Blue lights everywhere.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
4 - Very Good
Suburban, residential. A few small town, main street eateries within walking distance.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
The greater Burlington/Elon area has all the modern commercial options you could want.
Campus Visit Notes for Elon University
Visit Description:
We attended an info session in Baltimore when Elon took it's show on the road. At the time, Son was only luke warm on the school. However, after seeing it in person, he really liked it. It went straight to the top of his list.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
We needed a dog-friendly hotel and stayed at the Quality Inn Burlington, 2444 Maple Ave. It was fine considering it sat between the interstate and a near-empty strip mall. 3 stars.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Finally got a chance to try Sonic. It was fine. Good outdoor seating for the dog.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Note that Elon is located in the town of Burlington, which is next to the town of Elon.
