Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - First visit Feb 2008, returned this March for Orientation for accepted students. We found the info sessions very helpful and the staff were very approachable. Out of classroom learning was stressed.

Campus Tour: Yes - The tour guides were so enthusiastic, the campus is beautiful, most buildings very well designed. My daughter was happy to see all of the other students dressed casually in jeans and sweatshirts.

Classroom Visit: Yes - My daughter loved her classroom experience, the professor included her in the discussion. The other students were really receptive.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Of the 10 or so college visits we made, this was BY FAR the friendliest campus we visited. Students constantly asked where we were from, answered our questions, and were obviously happy to be at Elon.

Appearance of Campus:

Just like the brochure, this is a beautiful campus.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Most buildings, except for a few dorms, seemed very new and in great shape

Dormitories:
3 - Good

Fairly typical. A good variety of options from dorm style to suites. Freshmen can live in any of the dorms, though do tend to congregate in certain ones.

Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Fairly typical, we asked students and they said crime was not at all a concern in the surrounding area. Usual safety boxes for emergencies.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
This shot to the top of my daughter's list on our first visit, the student friendliness really stood out. Lots of Elon sweatshirts, a lot of school pride.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Not much of a town, but homes well maintained. Stayed in Burlington at a Marriott 10 minutes away; this town is mostly hotels, restaurants and shops off a highway. Not much of a night life it seems.

City/Town/Community:
3 - Good
3 - Good
For a quieter rural campus that my daughter prefers, she would give it a 5.

Campus Visit Notes for Elon University

Visit Description:

My daughter loved both visits, really cemented her decision to attend Elon. We all loved the experiential learning, enthusiastic teachers, great fit.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

First visit stayed at the Burke Inn, this was fabulous but unavailable when we returned. Would not recommend the Quality Inn. Apparently the Marriott hosts a lot of visiting students/parents

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Rented a car at the RD airport, ~45 minute drive. Elon runs shuttle buses for student transport to/from airport for a $45 fee
