Campus Visit Notes for Elon University

Visit Description:

Elon really stresses its study abroad programs and there are a ton of opportunities for short and long term travel. My son was very impressed by their state of the art tv studio. Our tour guide said the only thing she felt was missing at Elon was a strong following for sports teams. You won't see kids camped out for basketball tickets like at Duke. The school seems to put on a lot of activities, since there's not much to do in the area. A new giant mall is supposed to be coming soon.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Courtyard by Marriott was fine, about 5 minutes from campus and right next door to Hooters!

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

We were looking for a little local color (we hate chain restaurants) so we tried Hursey's BBQ. Good, not great. A little short on atmosphere.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Plenty of parking on campus.
