Visit Activities:


Information Session: Yes - This was more of a admission's session where the adcom spoke about what they are looking for in their applicants. We also saw a 10 min movie about FSU

Campus Tour: Yes - We took the van tour (about an hour) then walked the campus with a current student. The Van was very comfortable with huge windows and a good sound system (to hear the tourguide).

Pretty campus with nice gothic architecture (old brick and ivy covered buildings) but a bit run down around the edges.



Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good

Quite a lot of construction going on (but it is summer).



Dormitories:
3 - Good
3 - Good
They ranged from gorgeous to awful. The newer and renovated dorms were really nice. The older dorms looked like prisons. Two brand new gorgeous freshman suite style dorms will be open Fall/2007.



Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent

The blue light system is in place. The kids all felt safe on campus.



Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good

Seems like a terrific place to go to school!

Very run down around campus edges.



City/Town/Community:

Didn't seem like the town had much going on for the college kids but there seemed to be so much going on on the campus that it may not matter.

Campus Visit Notes for Florida State University


Visit Description:

The campus has its own movie theatre with first run movies, bowling alley, and clubs. The campus is a traditional, "up north" looking campus.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Doubletree Hotel - very clean, nice hotel with really comfortable beds.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Jim and Milts BBQ on Pensacola
Atlantic 288 on Adams St. (little trendy but delicious)

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Garnet and Gold buses go all over campus.
