Campus Visit Notes for Florida State University
Visit Description:
Although I am a Florida native, I had never been to the Florida State campus before. We heard it was pretty and it was indeed. The buildings were all so pretty and they've done a great job of blending old and new buildings together. We had an introductory session in the visitor center with some history and general information about the university. Then we took the walking tour. We returned to the visitor center for an admissions talk. They did tell us some things that were not on the website in terms of what the adcomms are looking for and what enhances and detracts from the application. After that there was plenty of time for asking more specific questions to the adcomms. They were very patient and spent as much time as we needed to discuss the admissions process.
After the formal visit, we met a neighbor's daughter who is a freshman living in Wildwood. She showed us her dorm and we were very impressed with the size and accomodations.
Then we spent several hours just walking around the campus, looking at dorms and checking out the dining areas.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
We stayed at the Hampton Inn at Thomasville Rd. This was a good location and very nice hotel.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Very good directions to the information center were provided. They even validated/waived the parking charge which they did not do at UCF or UF.
