Campus Visit Notes for Georgetown University

Visit Description:

AO at info session was very good, but presentation itself lacked a little polish. Just a standard slide show, which she had to rush through and left very little time for questions. And with over 100 people in the session, there were lots of questions. We broke into two groups for the tour, which meant over 50 people for each tour guide. We chose the guide with the loudest voice, and he gave an excellent tour. He did stray from his usual route so that we could be out of the hot sun, and in A/C as much as possible. Campus is a mix of very old buildings (in decent shape) and some very new buildings (business school building just opening this fall). The classrooms we saw were not impressive. Some reminded me of elementary school with rows of small desks and concrete block walls. We did not see in any dorms, but guide described layout of each. We did not go in the cafeteria with the group, but wandered in later and I'm wondering how everyone fits in there at mealtimes. The tour ended at the campus bookstore, of course, so everyone could purchase a Hoyas T-shirt.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Holiday Inn - Georgetown. Shuttle is very convenient.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Georgetown commercial district is a ten minute walk from campus, and has shops, restaurants, etc.
