Visit to Georgetown University in March 2008 by steelerfan513 (Student, HS Class of 2009)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
No - My brother had a lacrosse tournament, so all I did was glance around the campus.
Georgetown University Campus:
Appearance of Campus: 2 - Fair -
The buildings were nice, but that's about all the campus is. The greenest area were the athletic fields, and everything was packed in.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 4 - Very Good -
The buildings were very nice. Didn't have a problem with the buildings themselves, just the lack of anything besides buildings.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent -
Campus has own police dept. and call boxes. Didn't seem to be an issue at all.
Overall Campus Impression: 2 - Fair -
I just despised the lack of any green areas on the campus (at least which I saw). That was all it took to turn me off to the campus.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 5 - Excellent -
There's a lot happening around the campus as far as food and shopping.
City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent -
Georgetown and DC are both great places to go.
Campus Visit Notes for Georgetown University:
Visit Description:
I didn't go to any information sessions, tours, or anything. My brother had a lax tournament, and I had a chance to look around the campus a little bit.
The campus buildings were nice enough, but, like I said above, there were absolutely no green areas on the campus at all from what I saw. For some people, that might not be a problem, but I just didn't like the clutter of the buildings; it seems like it would get old after a while.
These were just my impressions from looking at the area surrounding the football fields in the center of the campus. There's definitely more to the campus than that area, but that part really turned me off to the campus.
I know this isn't a ton of information, but I hope it's just a warning to anyone who visits that the center of the campus is pretty cluttered.
