Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - The information session had an admissions counselor and two rising sophomores speaking about academics, admissions, extra-curriculars, and financial aid.

Campus Tour: Yes - The campus tour looked at a few of the main buildings in Harvard Yard. We went into two of them (Science Center and Memorial Hall). It wasn't very comprehensive.

Campus:

Because we visited in the summer, there were many visitors and it was difficult to tell the students from other people walking around. Most of the people were busy using electronics (mp3, cell phone)

We didn't seem many faculty because it was raining and summertime. The staff in the admissions office center were friendly when directing us to the information center.

The campus was pretty with large trees and grassy areas cut by paved paths between the buildings. It looked very collegiate. It was raining when we visited so there were puddles everywhere.

There weren't any blue light emergency stands or campus police (that I could see) but the campus and surrounding area looked pretty safe.

Overall Campus Impression:

The campus was very beautiful. It's split up into different "Yards" that are put in different places around Cambridge, so we walked alot.

Off-Campus:

The surrounding area was very nice and had many small shops and places that you can eat and shop at. The Harvard Coop bookstore was very large and nice and very close by.

City/Town/Community:

A T station (the transit system for Boston) is located right next to the campus so it's easy to go into Boston or other places. Boston was surprisingly clean.

Campus Visit Notes for Harvard University

Visit Description:

Our campus visit was very basic and normal. It was my first college visit. The only confusing part was that the place for the information session is not at Harvard Yard, the section of Harvard next to the T station. We got lost wandering around the campus but were directed to the information session place by the Harvard Information Office.
The Admission Officer at the information session was very friendly and helpful. She sort of explained the financial aid and admission process but didn't give any details about how they choose who to accept. The students gave very good information about the Harvard dorm system and class selection.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

We used the T after reading about the horrible parking in Harvard Square. It was very convenient and clean.
