Visit to Kenyon College in August 2006 by kamscnerd (Student, HS Class of 2006)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - I attended an info session on financial aid, getting in to Kenyon, and a student panel on extracurriculars and student life. All of my questions about each topic were completely answered and the student panel was extremely helpful. Campus Tour:
Yes - I cannot stress enough that you must take a campus tour if you're even considering applying to Kenyon. Actually I would recommend taking two because you will be so completely mesmerized by the beauty of the buildings and the grounds that you will not
Kenyon College Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 4 - Very Good -
The students seemed genuinely interested in the visiting high school students. Most of them were indoors because it was raining for the majority of the day.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 5 - Excellent -
The staff was enthusiastic, helpful, and available for any questions prospective students had.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent -
There is no way to put into words the absolute beauty of Kenyon's campus. I thought I had a pretty good picture of it in my mind from pictures and its #8 most beautiful campus ranking in the best 361 college rankings book. I was completely blown away
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent -
See appearance of campus.
Dormitories: 4 - Very Good -
See appearance of campus. I did not get the opportunity to go inside the dorms so I can't give much input on this.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent -

Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent -
The campus is stunning, the professors are readily available, the students are hardworking and courteous. I couldn't ask for more.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 3 - Good -
I'm giving a 3 as in it depends on your tastes. The town is extremely small and is surrounded on all sides by cornfields. This can be good or bad depending on your tastes. I like this because it creates a bond between the community of Gambier and the

Campus Visit Notes for Kenyon College:
Visit Description:
Read the previous sections. Enough Said. Oh the food! The food was pretty good as far as colleges go. There was a pretty good selection for omnivores and herbivores alike. The main dining hall was closed for renovations, Peirce Hall. See its spelled Peirce. It supposedly resemnbles the great hall of Hogwarts. The whole campus does have a Hogwarts feel to it which is pretty remarkable in my opinion. The new Kenyon Athletic Center is absolutely amazing; commonly referred to by students as the KAC, pronounced "kack".
