Campus Visit Notes for Lafayette College

Visit Description:

The campus is quite nice with alot of mature trees and pretty buildings but not so spread apart that it felt like a hike to get anywhere. The students that were part of this open house seemed very pleased with their choice. My impression is that this would be a great school for someone interested in developing a close working relationship with their teachers. We asked one teacher about job placement upon graduation. Off the top of her head she was able to list the 15 students she advised who graduated last year and where they all had gone. (All but one had gone to grad school or good jobs - the other was "finding himself") There are no TA's so research opportunities are readily available. The school seems to be well funded and the facilities were well maintained. On the map this school appears to be right at the edge of Easton. But in actuality there's a major road that separates them so it feels more isolated. Easton is a small city and the parts we did see were rather old and rundown, but we did not tour the whole area. They have a very interesting AB Engineering degree which combines Engineering and just about anything else you want. We ate lunch at the student union - it was delicious and abundant and the dining room was lovely.
