Visit Activities:
Admissions Interview:
Yes - Called an individual info session with a student, more like an interview than they made it seem. The interviewer was able to answer all my questions.
Information Session:
Yes - Pretty standard info session, stressed the fexibility of majors, minors. Gave the impression that applications were carefully looked through and remembered, dealt with some less intelligent questions
Campus Tour:
Yes - Great tour, really enthusiastic guide(in March visit) dorms are nice enough, no housing problem. Most people are turned off by walking around the hill, but none of the students seem to mind.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
4 - Very Good
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
Arranged a meeting with a professor in advance to ask about a specific program, he was great. explained the department, gave me a tour, seemed to really enjoy it there.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
I didn't notice any of the disrepair others are talking about.
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
not so great area, but campus itself seems very self-contained and safe. the dorms all have alarms if the doors are open for 30+ seconds or something.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
2 - Fair
=/ as a rural girl, very uncomfortable in s bethlehem. seems like most students go to resturaunts/bars without any problem though.
Campus Visit Notes for Lehigh University
Visit Description:
I was there in March for the junior open house as well. Both visits were very positive, came away with an "i wanna go here!" attitude. Both times showing interest in the school was stressed. In March(with lots of parents there) they talked about their support systems for freshmen as well. July gave a better idea of the application process. I will probably return in October to sit in on some classes, then decide if I will apply ED.
While I loved it, almost everyone else I know (in my small HS in new england) did not. The surrounding area and the hill it's on can be a turn off, but there's really not many other bad things I can say about it, once you get past that. It is definitely a school that you will love or hate, and need to visit to find out which.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
first visit we stayed in allentown, then the second we just stayed in the comfort inn(?) a few blocks from campus, liked that much better.
