Campus Visit Notes for Middlebury College
Visit Description:
$150 for a season pass to Middlebury snow bowl, campus shuttles there and to Burlington. 60% of students have cars. Got to see the campus in depth through extensive tour, just couldn't eat in dining hall as were being used for camps. Good coverage of J-term options. Lots of stuff included in "comprehensive fee" all food is covered, tutoring is covered, things like music lessons are heavily subsidized and free for majors. EC trips like service trips during breaks heavily funded through grants and fund raising. Strong sense of community.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
stayed at Middlebury Inn, pricey but not many options around, the chain in town (courtyard?) was full
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
ate at a sandwich shop in town it was good. Because food is included in comprehensive fee, students don't venture to town much to eat.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
shuttle busses to ski area and Burlington are frequent.
