Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - This was hosted by a very well-spoken woman, I think the dean of admissions. It was full of helpful information, but nothing super special, just sort of the general LAC info.

Campus Tour: Yes - The student was a regular sort of guy, pretty personable. The tour covered all the parts of campus that I wished to see, including a dorm. It was rainy, but it was still evident that the campus is beautiful. It sort of reminded me of harry Potter. Very co

I didn't have much personal student contact, but overall the place felt very preppy to me, a little more than I am used to. There seems to be a great deal of "spirit" on campus, although this might come from my exposure to the swim team. It

No problems here, but I didn't seek out professors or anything unusual

As I said, its a beautiful place. My mom said, "If you lived here for four years, your future homes will have a lot to live up to!"

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

I loved the science center! I think that is what it was....the new building with the blackboards everywhere? Also the gym facilities are amazing. And you can't really compete with a campus that has both a downhill slope, and cross country skiing path

I don't really remember, nor am I picky.

The town was very quaint and the campus seemed fairly separate, despite the few roads running through it.

Town looked cute, though I didn't spend much time in it. My mom and I arrived late at night at a REALLY bad hotel, and left right after the middlebury touring, so I don't know much. For a rural place, it looked better than some I've seen.

Campus Visit Notes for Middlebury College

Visit Description:

Really, the only thing that turned me off of Middlebury was that it was TOO nice. Everything is beautiful and fairly new and feels very pristine. The students fit very well into this environment (i.e. they are very well put together, preppy, well-off looking). I really have nothing substantial to complain about with Middlebury, it just didn't click.

Oh, I guess that one thing I could complain about, as a Californian, would be the Vermont weather! I barely survived in Philadelphia for one winter and I think the weather around Middlebury would be VERY difficult for me. That being said, if you like the snow/cold, go for it!

Also, I should mention, the school is not easy to get to. The roads my mom and I took were small and windy. It is not super close to a major airport, and would thus be difficult/expensive to fly to. As a resident of rural CA, my mom was not excited about paying for a small commuter flight on both ends of my travel.

The language program there looks amazing, and I would recommend it for anyone interested in language (Check out summer programs as well if you have the money).

Also, I checked out the swim program, and the coach looks very nice (both in looks and temperment :)). If you are deciding on college based on sports programs, sign with Middlebury over Williams! I think they have the more quality program and might work a letter better with the acadmics than Williams of Amherst.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

BAD! But we went cheap. It was some priceline deal.
