I was astonished to find walk through the buildings of NYU because, like others, I expected a school in the city to be a little on the rugged side. All of the buildings I was in were gorgeous.

Campus Visit Notes for New York University

Visit Description:

I've heard a lot of things about NYU...it's not a typical college experience, you have to be able to handle yourself in the city, etc. One of my good friends is a terrific actress and people always told her it was a college that was meant for her, and it was her dream school, that is, until she visited it. She said she could not imagine attending a school whose campus is in such an urban community. When I toured NYU, I was afraid I would be intimidated by the pace and size of the city. It turned out to be completely and wonderfully different than I expected. The buildings are clean and some offer the most beautiful views of the city. A lot of people complain about the "lack of community." Honestly I have no idea what they're talking about! I guess you have to get used to the fact that NYU is in the city! I definately think there is a fantastic sense of community. On every block you see a purple flag, and you can't help but think that you're a part of something great in a really great place. I'm really glad that I took a tour of NYU so that I could get an opinion for myself, and not just listen to what everyone else had to say. To sum it up, NYU is truly a unique university, and you have to take a tour to see if it's right for you.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

After your tour, go to Spice. It's a great Thai restaurant that has affordable lunch deals. The food is amazing and you'll get a feel for what it's like to be a student!
