Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - A information session was conducted in a classroom inside the school. Very informative, though they didn't offer anything you couldn't find out from the website or elsewhere.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Campus tour was very good, the campus is somewhat isolated, but also integrated very well into the city.
Classroom Visit:
Yes
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
3 - Good
Well, we didn't get a chance to talk to any of the students, but they seemed nice enough? Very stressed though--it was finals week.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
Our tour guide was informative and cheerful, and overall she seemed to genuinely love the school.
Appearance of Campus:
4 - Very Good
Campus is great, very spacious with several quads and massive buildings.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
The buildings and facilities from what I could see were excellent, very innovative and up-to-date. The Marino Center and the Curry Student Center were both very impressive and attractive.
Dormitories:
3 - Good
We saw a freshman dorm, which was nothing special but that is to be expected. Apparently after freshman year students get placed in apartment style housing.
Security/Safety:
4 - Very Good
The campus appeared to be safe, I saw a few officers around. The tour guide stressed how safe the school is even to walk alone at night. She also spoke about a new service where campus police will pic
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
I'm pretty much in love with this school.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
Northeastern is located in a great area, the area immediately around campus isn't amazing but you walk down a few minutes away is the South End (i think?) which is really nice.
City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
It's Boston! It seems everyone there is about 20 years when you walk around the streets, which probably isn't too far off.
Campus Visit Notes for Northeastern University
Visit Description:
Overall, Northeastern seems to be a great school, especially their co-op program. Having that experience before you graduate is really helpful in finding a job after school is over, something a lot of students seem to have difficulty in. The facilities are great, the staff and students seem to be very supportive and passionate about the school from what I can tell. This trip pretty much confirmed what I already liked about Northeastern. Don't let the low rankings or lack of "prestige" deter you, the school is amazing and hopefully I'll get in!
