Visit to Northwestern University in October 2007 by pccool52 (Student, HS Class of 2007)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - It was good, and just like any other info session. Campus Tour:
Yes - The tour was great. The tour wasn't extensiveas I would have liked it to have been because the campus is so large. We didn't get to visit any of the natural science buildings which was dis Classroom Visit:
Yes - We visited a large lecture hall that was quite high tech.
Northwestern University Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent -
the student that led my tour was phenomenal. He could answer every question and was very friendly and outgoing.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good -
The info session person did a good job at answering most of the questions.
Appearance of Campus: 4 - Very Good -
The campus looks geat; however, there was a bit of construction that took away from the overall campus.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 3 - Good -
The buildings were more of a modern design that made it feel a bit less college like. The classroom we visited seemed fairly old, but still in good shape.
Dormitories: 3 - Good -
The one we visited seemed to be the average college dormitory.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent -
It's in suburbia.
Overall Campus Impression: 4 - Very Good -
I love how it is right on lake michigan. however, the cold concrete building feel took a little bit of the college feel away.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 5 - Excellent -
Evenston is an amazing area. It has a downtown with just about anything you need.
City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent -
I don't think nortwestern could have a more supreme location. It is not in the heart of chicago(thats bad), yet is only a short 20 minute bus ride away. Once again, the lake is awsome.
