BORING. I walked from my hotel in the middle of Evanston, in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, and STILL saw very few ppl. Shops/Food were good but WHERE WERE THE PEOPLE???

Lots of little restaurants and shops and movie theaters and bars. Evanston is a great little college town/city!

Downtown Evanston has everything a college student could need and possibly want: Whole Foods, CVS, Einstein Bagels, Starbucks, Chipotle, Borders/B&N, all kinds of clothing stores and eateries.

Pretty upscale, has many restaurants, shops, etc. Also, it's only 20 min. to Chicago, which is great.

I like the suburbs, since I have lived in a suburb all my life.

Cute suburban neighborhood with a bunch of shops and restaurants (Whole Foods, Urban Outfitters, etc.) just down the street. Then Chicago is apparently 20 min. away by bus, 40 by train.

Beautiful houses with a neighborhood feel surround much of the campus. Gorgeous Lake Michigan can be seen from campus as well.

Evanston is a cool town,, combines the student style stores and other fancier places. You have places like Clarke's Diner for great simple college food, or gourmet if you want too.

Evanston is a great place to live. My host gave me a tour in his car and downtown had a lot to offer a college student. i wouldnt say it had everything, but chicago is close enough so not a big deal.

Downtown Evanston (though small) is very well-kept and there's a lot of "young" "hip" stores for the college students. Plus, the school is on the shores of Lake Michigan... ni

Spent most of my time on campus. But I was told that kids on south side go into Evanston a lot for dinner, groceries, movies, bars, cafés... Not a big town.

I have a number of food venues which are firmly anchored into my lifestyle. Luckily, NU has almost all of them within a couple of miles from the outskirts of the campus. How convenient!

Evanston is thriving these days, and though Northwestern is very close to Chicago, Evanston in itself is a great place to hang out.

Again, the south side is closer to downtown, and is known for more problems, but there is almost no chance of a problem even during nighttime. Many shops, restaurants, etc, adjancent to campus for convenience.
