Visit to Purdue University - West Lafayette in March 2007 by AdvMom (Parent of Student, HS Class of 2008)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - We went to a day long program called Introducing Purdue. It was helpful, but too many activities crammed into one day. Campus Tour:
No - We ran out of time to do the tour, but saw many buildings.
Purdue University - West Lafayette Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 4 - Very Good Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good Appearance of Campus: 4 - Very Good Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 4 - Very Good Dormitories: 3 - Good -
One negative here is that I felt the dorms were very far from the classroom buildings. There is a large area in between with greek and private housing.
Security/Safety: 4 - Very Good Overall Campus Impression: 3 - Good
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 3 - Good -
Typical college town.
City/Town/Community: 2 - Fair -
There's not a whole lot there outside the campus area. The mall was decent.
Campus Visit Notes for Purdue University - West Lafayette:
Visit Description:
The new art building was of particular interest to us. Unfortunately, the student that led the tour did not have access to any of the studios. The computer lab was open, and it didn't have a single Mac. This was a great disappointment to my future graphic designer. She also noticed that the graphic design studios were in the basement - no windows!
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
We ate in a dining hall. It wasn't bad.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
The program we went to had parking at the stadium and bus transportation from there to the main part of campus.
