Visit Activities:
Admissions Interview: No - I did not interview during this visit.
Information Session: Yes - The information session was pretty informative. They talked about the overall feel of Reed, as well as the senior thesis and required classes.
Campus Tour: No - I did not go on a formal tour, but I walked around the entire campus by myself. It was very nice.
Classroom Visit: No - I didn't actually visit a class, but I looked in on one, and there were about 12 students all seated in a circle and discussing stuff with the professor.
Reed College Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The students were very nice. Whenever I pulled out my Reed map to find somewhere I needed to go, a student walking by asked if I needed help. They were all really friendly, and all really liked Reed.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - I saw a few members of the staff, and they all seemed really nice and dedicated to teaching at Reed.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The campus was very pretty. The buildings are nice brick buildings. The campus was very green, with trees and lawns everywhere.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Everything was quite clean and maintained. I did not see any garbage anywhere. The lawns were nicely mowed.
Dormitories: 3 - Good 3 - Good - I did not see a dormitory, but the kids at the information session did not seem to really like the dorms.
Security/Safety: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - I never exactly saw campus security patrolling the campus, but I felt safe. This was discussed at the information session, and the girls said that they felt safe walking around at night.
Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The campus was very nice, and I could see myself going there.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - There were a lot of nice bike trails and it was very pretty. However, right off the campus is a residential area, and there's not much to do.
City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Portland is great. I didn't find it quite as nice as Seattle, though.
Campus Visit Notes for Reed College:
Visit Description: The visit was very nice. I really liked Reed, but I am not sure if I am "quirky" enough to fit in there. I am a liberal, vegetarian, environmentalist etc etc, like people at Reed, but I am still pretty straight-laced. I saw a lot of brightly colored hair, dreadlocks, and things like that. I wouldn't describe myself as "preppy", but apparently I am more preppy than kids at Reed. I really liked the college, but I think I will have to visit one more time and stay overnight to decide if it really is for me.

At the information session, we talked about the core classes. Humanities 110 is a required freshman class that is two semesters long. Here is a link: http://academic.reed.edu/Humanities/Hum110/. Other required classes can be found here: http://www.reed.edu/registrar/pdfs/new_distrib.pdf.

The typical Reedie spends a lot of time studying and learning. There is a huge weight on academics at this school.

Also, if I attend this school, I am bringing a bike. There were a lot of really nice bike trails around the campus, and a lot of kids bike to class. At the information session, it was mentioned that bikes outnumber cars at Reed.

That is all I can think of to write. If you need more information or have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments: We wanted to save some money, so we just stayed at a Motel 6. I don't recommend it, lol.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments: We ate at Reed, and the food was okay, but not great.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.): Parking seemed to be good at Reed.
