Visit to Stanford University in July 2006 by Docta (Student, HS Class of 2007)
Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - Very good, very imformative. Stressed "academic vitality" constantly. Campus Tour:
Yes - Beautiful, but not as majestic as some others. It was nice and sunny.
Stanford University Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent -
Its like the nicest people in the world got concentrated here.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good -
All very nice and helpful, especially the students who worked as tour guides.
Appearance of Campus: 4 - Very Good -
Beautiful, but it lacks the "Harry Potter" feel I really like.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 4 - Very Good -
Some old buildings that are cramped and dirty, but in general, spotless.
Dormitories: 3 - Good -
Never saw. They looked nice, but I didn't understand how they were organized.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent Overall Campus Impression: 3 - Good -
I thought it lacked a kind of "unity center" that many other universities have.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 2 - Fair -
Nothing interesting out of campus other than SF
City/Town/Community: 2 - Fair -
Pretty boring...
Campus Visit Notes for Stanford University:
Visit Description:
I'm kinda busy so I'll skip this for now...
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Stayed with family friends in SF
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
All the students use bikes, which is really cool.
