Campus Visit Notes for United States Air Force Academy
Visit Description:
A great visit -- my S is more motivated and inspired than ever to work on his goal to attend USAFA, class of 2013. The visit itself had both the Director of Admissions for the formal presentation, plus three recent graduates (one female, two males -- now 2LT's) who were very candid. No question went unanswered for the parents and the tour was a running commentary on not only what to expect but how parents could be helpful (but not "hovering") to their S/D's as they went through the application process. My S was able to accompany several 4th class (freshmen) cadets to class, dorms, gyms, etc. and got a very comprehensive view of what this atypical college experience will entail.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Stayed at the Hampton Inn North Entrance and it was excellent -- staff very helpful with tips for visitors to the academy.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Everything you could want within easy driving distance.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Our visit was well worth the time, expense and effort -- I'd recommend it to anyone who is wondering just what a "service academy" is all about.
