Campus Visit Notes for United States Merchant Marine Academy

Visit Description:

My son received his appointment so we went for a formal visit before he decided to accept. The campus is beautiful, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

There was a lot of renovation and work going on so it was not to "pretty" and the weather was terrible. Fog so bad you could not see the water from the museum...and speaking of the museum, this is a must! What an informative and nice place to visit.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

The Andrew in Great Neck, but if you go out of season try to stay at the Mansion in Glen Cove. $99 per night off season and this place is amazing!

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

We drove so had our car. Parking at Academy was ok in the visitor area (limited), and parking the the town was normal "city" parking.
