Campus Visit Notes for United States Military Academy

Visit Description:

Not as much is available during spring break, so I recommend going when the cadets are there, unless you're already very familiar with West Point. I also highly recommend attending SLS if you're thinking of applying. You can apply in January of your junior year in high school.

You can also do the tourist bus - which is very informative on the history, sights and landmarks. Much to see as West Point is full of history.

If there's a sporting event going on, I also recommend attending one - whether Army football, hockey, lacrosse or baseball...you'll get a sense of the spirit of West Point there! And Michie Stadium was voted as one of the most scenic places to watch a football game by Sports Illustrated...it must be the Hudson River with fall foliage on the Palisades in the background, with cadets in dress gray standing for the game in the forground...

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed with friends

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Great little italian pizza places outside the gate...also a McDonalds. For best Calzone and NY Pizza, try little place on right just before Schade's (can't remember the name!!),but Schades o

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Can access train to NYC by crossing the bridge about 5 miles south, which is very nice...can catch taxi from train station to West Point.
