Campus Visit Notes for University of Florida

Visit Description:

This was the largest school campus that we have toured so far. The info session was not worth the time. In fact, it made my sons want to leave right then and there. The Asst. Director of Admission was unkind, pacing back and forth at the front of the small lecture hall, and "barking" questions at the students, while pointing her finger at them. This was hardly a welcoming opening session! Fortunately, the two students that took us on a tour of campus made up for her behavior. We had a student from the honors college and a music major. They were very informative and funny and welcoming of all questions. Scooters/motorcycles were very popular on campus as there were more places to park them. The assistance that the university has for students with disabilities (even broken legs, etc) was impressive. The guides noted that if you broke your arm, a scribe would be assigned to take your notes, tests, etc. It sounded like they really wanted all of their students to succeed. The campus was beautiful. We didn't go inside any buildings except for the info session at the beginning and the food court/bookstore....where the tour ended.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking was $5 for the afternoon at the Welcome Center garage.
