Campus Visit Notes for University of Florida
Visit Description:
The tour group was huge, they do not break down into smaller groups. It was hard to hear the guides at times. The guides were friendly and sweet. The campus is really large. Mix of old and new facilities. Big emphasis on the sports success, and the tour ended in the stadium.
A few drawbacks to this campus:
1. Air Conditioning is not guaranteed in all dorms. I find this unbelievable in this day and age.
2. If you're interested in bringing a car, which you might need because Gainesville is really in the middle of nowhere, parking is expensive if you can get it. Spaces are at a premium, and the guides said they never move their cars from the spaces they find unless absolutely necessary.
3. The campus is huge and a lot of students get around by bike. There are lots of abandoned bikes on campus.
4. As I mentioned, they did not take us inside any buildings, not even a lecture hall or the main library. I found this a real drawback to making an informed choice about the school.
