Campus Visit Notes for University of Florida

Visit Description:

Go Gators!

To elaborate more on the dorms:

Buckman (in the Murphree area near the stadium) has no air conditioning. It does have fans and is one of the nicer dorms inside.
Beatty Towers as well as Jennings are starting to get old. These are some of the larger dorms and many students are packed into these buildings.
I personally prefer the quiet and smaller historical buildings in the Murphree area.
For preview/orientation you stay in Broward.

The libraries are really nice! They have tons upon tons of information. It's a great student resource.

The meal halls are great. My favorite is Broward dining. They offer a HUGE variety with tons of nutritional food. I've had many ethnic foods there, such as Greek and Mexican. If you get a chance to go it's a great experience!

TONS of bands, broadway shows, and speakers come to UF. The national tours of Hairspray, Mama Mia!, and The Producers (June 2007) came to the Phillips Center. On April 15, the Flaming Lips held a free concert.

You get a coupon for 10% off in the book store! The book store has great shopping for gator merchandise. They even have a special made UF Vineyard Vines bag. Woah baby.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

If you can find a friend with a dorm it's very fun to spend the night!

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

-Burrito Brothers: LITERALLY a hole in the wall! Delicious.
-Mellow Mushroom Pizza
-Satchel's Pizza: Absolutely amazing.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

The Florida Museum has an absolutely AMAZING butterfly exhibit! You walk through a big outdoor room with plants so it seems as if the thousands of exotic butterflies are in their natural habitat.
