Visit Activities:
Admissions Interview:
Yes - I went there before I applied and was able to briefly talk with the admission counselor about an architecture portfolio.
I sat down after I was accepted and had a really good talk with a counselor
Information Session:
Yes - When I first visited, I attended an information session which was very informative. The counselor who gave the presentation outlined the 6 basic things they look for at ND. They were very helpful.
Campus Tour:
Yes - Campus is absolutely beautiful and amazing. There is no better campus in the country. ND has some kind of special aura around the campus, and if you are meant for ND (like me) it will obsess you.
Classroom Visit:
Yes - Sat in on Bio-Chem and Physics. Both classes were large, but did not mind the large size (the professors know how to handle the size of class). I could follow each class and was overall impressed.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
On the sleepover, the atmosphere was amazing. all the students help each other out with decisions (like next year classes, etc).
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
5 - Excellent
did not have too much interaction with staff, but admissions was extremely helpful and friendly.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
we are talking about ND's campus, enough said. (see above comments on campus)
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
There are some older buildings on campus, but they are building at least 3-4 new buildings even in this economy. Building are absolutely gorgeous, as they use original architecture.
Dormitories:
5 - Excellent
The dorm I stayed in was very large, but there are some older dorms, but the older the dorm the more tradition, so it is a trade-off btw amenities and tradition. Some new dorms too though.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
i walked around by myself after open house at 10:00 PM on campus that i had been to once, and felt no issue about safety.
Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent
If you fit the typical ND student, there is no better place for you.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
Town is not that great, but they are building a new shopping center for ND students
Campus Visit Notes for University of Notre Dame
Visit Description:
ND is a special place and if you are a Catholic (or don't mind taking theology), love sports, and want a community feel instead of competitive atmosphere, ND is the best place for you.
Campus is amazing, food is awesome, and entire weekend was unbelievable.
I went to the Blue/Gold Game and it was full. The atmosphere around ND is like non around.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Inn at Saint Mary's is the best by far. Great breakfast and in walking distance of ND.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Flying into South Bend Regional Airport is the easiest way.
