Visit Activities:
Information Session:
Yes - They showed a video which was cool, and the lady who spoke seemed very nice, but it just sounded too memorized. Obviously the material has to be memorized, but she just made it seem kinda forced.
Campus Tour:
Yes - The guy who gave our tour was really nice and cute :) He really seemed to love Notre Dame.
Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
They were all extremely nice and thoughtful.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
4 - Very Good
We were slightly late to the info session and the receptionist acted rudely and just shoved us the stuff. But later when we came back to ask a ? another receptionist was there and was very sweet.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
Majestic campus. Words don't do it justice.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
Impecable. Everything was perfect. Almost too perfect. I felt like I was at a museum, not a college campus.
Dormitories:
4 - Very Good
Didn't see, but I'm sure they're good. Students at Notre Dame have A LOT of dorm pride.
Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent
Extremely safe. I mean it is South Bend, Indiana. Really, what could go wrong? Even our tour guide said that even his female friends felt really safe at 2am walking back to their dorm.
Overall Campus Impression:
4 - Very Good
The campus was unbelievable. Even though the school isn't right for me, I have to admit that the campus is flawless.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
2 - Fair
City/Town/Community:
2 - Fair
South Bend is... well let's just say there isn't much going on. Going from the city to the campus feels like night and day.
Campus Visit Notes for University of Notre Dame
Visit Description:
Notre Dame has a gorgeous campus. Everything seems perfect. And while this may seem kinda weird... it seemed too perfect to me. I dunno, everything was righteous and everyone loved it so much, and it was kinda... unbelievable. I just couldn't see myself in this seemingly "cookie-cutter" campus where EVERYONE is happy and there's church everywhere. Granted, this was just my impression from being on the campus for three hours, so I could be WAY off the mark. I'm not saying that it is too good to be true, or that it is fake, I'm just saying that I felt that I wasn't perfect enough and that I didn't fit in... if that makes any sense. Plus, everyone is totally into football. Now, even though I'm a girl, I do like sports, but their love for their team seems a tad bit obsessive... IMO. This is a minor note, but I'm not liking the fact that you have to take gym your freshman year. I thought I was done with that. And another little thing that bugged me was that ppl couldn't go into the dorm of the opposite sex after midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends. Um wtf? Isn't college supposed to be about freedom? I'm not saying that I'd have a guy over every night, but I'd like to chill guy friends later than 12. So while it is a great school, and I see why people love it so much (gorgeous campus, great sense of community by living in the same dorm for all 4 yrs, etc), I just don't think it is the right place for me.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
There was a place kinda by the stadium parking lot that was good. I forget the name though.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
There's a visitor's parking lot by where the stadium is. If you're going to an info session, arrive early, 'cause the campus is BIG and it's a long walk from the parking lot
