Visit to University of Pennsylvania in June 2007 by FMHS1 (Student, HS Class of 2008)
Visit Activities:
   Admissions Interview: No - Admissions interviews are offered to alumni's on campus and all others off campus. The off campus interview is done with an alumni in your region.
   Information Session: Yes - The Senior VP of admissions gave the information session. She was very concise and spoke about what was unique at Penn. Would like to have had more SAT/GPA etc. stats like Georgetowns session.
   Campus Tour: Yes - Beautiful! City within a city. You could never leave campus and be entertained-theres subway, taco bell, starbucks, Gap and more.The buildings were old and elegant and the insides were so advanced.
   Classroom Visit: Yes - The classrooms were tiered off so that everyone had an equal view.The professors have so much technology at their fingertips.You press a button and the A/C changes, another and the blinds go down.
University of Pennsylvania Campus:
   Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - It was summer but there were still a lot fo students. I asked a student eating if she could point me in the direction of 1 College Hall and she quickly ate the rest of her food and took me there.
   Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - They were nice and did their job but they were very professional.
   Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - See Campus Tour Section. In addition though, the quad was amazingly green and oh so old but sophisticated and Locust Walk was in the center of everything. Truly amazing.
   Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - The buildings were huge and old yet the technology inside was amazing. Students have study rooms that you can draw on a whiteboard and it goes straight to the computer. Everything was very clean too.
   Dormitories: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Housing off campus is 2 blocks away and the company who builds the houses is owned by Penn! The outsides of all the dormitories were amazing(especially the quad) but we were not allowed in one.
   Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - They have these blue phones that you press and a Cop will be there within NINETY SECONDS! 2 of these blue phones can be seen while standing at 1.
   Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - See all above. The campus was great.
Off-Campus:
   Area Immediately Around Campus: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - Youre right next to Drexel and the off campus housing of both schools. Right in University City.
   City/Town/Community: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - Philly is amazing but it was not the nicest place. It didnt have big skyscrapers that were amazing lke NYC or really old historic building like DC but it was nice and there was a lot to do there.
