Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
Met a lot of random people throughout the day and night. It seemed that everyone was just meeting new people left and right.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:
Didn't really talk to them; THe chefs seem to have a good time though at the dining hall near the new dorms.
Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent
great
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
3 - Good
Depending where you live, things may be a bit more dirty. The kellogg dorms are like a hotel. new dorms are cleaner. wasn't too bad.

Kellogg = best = hotel (plasma common room tv, ac, heat, awesome). New dorms = 2nd. (common room, bathroom for 5 rooms, like apartments)
Old dorms are alright = traditional style dorms = hall

No worries; key & pad; blue light things; and people are out all the time.

Big.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Virginia
Visit Description:
I came to UVA for an overnight visit with a friend, who is an echols scholar, for a more personal feel of the university. I would tell anyone to do spend a night with a friend, preferably, or someone because it allows you to see and feel the university as one of the students. Tour guides and info sessions are great additions, but the overnight stay is the best thing a prospective student can do.
I and two other friends went on thursday morning and left friday morning. I'm writing this a couple of hours after I got back, so things are still fresh in my memory. We got there around 11 am, finding the parking was difficult, but we managed. We then at lunch with 2 people we knew, and two other people we didn't know, but they were very easily to get along with. At this time, we already ran into two first years that graduated from our high school in 2008; its not that big of a university as I originally thought.
As my friends walked around campus alone (my uva friend had to study for quiz & my other friends's uva friend had to pack for fall break) we wandered around, saw the lawn, explored the rotunda, and walked accidently walked into a class (in front of the room).
We went back, my two friends stayed with their girl, uva friend, and I went back to my friend's suite. I bummed around and napped until dinner. There, I met up with some more people I knew, and met several new guys that we went out with later that night.
945 pm - We went out to find frat parties. Like I said before, I wanted the whole feel and thursday night was thirsty thursday. After a while, we finally got some girls to accompany us guys in order to get into a party. Everyone shook hands and introduced themselves, and then we got into party. It was very interesting how they whole frat party-getting-in-thing operated, but the party was OK. There was a band playing, and many people were just outside, standing in groups, talking, drinking, playing corn hole, and just having a good time. There was no craziness when I was there; but then again we left early. I guess I found out that this wasn't my scene, but it was a good experience to see how the college night life is like.
It was around midnight, and uvafriend and I broke off the pack and went to visit a friend in the old dorms. We stayed there until 2 am, talking about old times and just having a good time. THen, I found out my cousin lived in the room next to us-- small world. Again, what are the odds? The university is big, but you still run into people you know.
Went to bed, left at 930 am the next day.
Visit, and experience uva for yourself.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
I stayed with friend.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
the corner - thats the popular place for students to eat, though it was very far for some people.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
parking is ok; the uva bus is also alright, but I heard from students that you wait for 15 min for bus and its already full.
