5 - Excellent
the campus was fairly clean. a lot of sorority/fraternity buildings. big party school

most of the buildings are fresh-looking and well-maintained on the outside. however, most non-biology buildings are kinda crappy inside.

it was a fairly modern campus, but i thought people going for biology major probably would enjoy more of the new facilities on campus.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus:
5 - Excellent
the capitol building was right next to the campus, and the campus was part of the town with a lot of cafe and restaurants.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Wisconsin-Madison
Visit Description:
more than half of the buildings belonged to biological sciences. the non-biology buildings were old and crappy on the inside...as a non-biology major i was a little disappointed.
the campus was huge and it was tiring to walk around. buildings were scattered everywhere and far away from each other, so it was really confusing. there were practically no parking spaces, and it was hard to go around in bikes because of the hills.
most people seemed busy and careless about others passing by. even the staff and faculty didn't care about the incoming students (maybe because it was such a huge campus? but i felt differently at UMich) i felt that a lot of people were there to party (not necessarily a bad things though).
the dining system was one of the best i have ever seen!! you can order as much as you can eat and pay only for that portion. a full meal including a main entree, a salad/soup, a dessert, and a drink was $7. the main entree was pretty big and only cost $2. i'm sure most people would feel full with less than $4 worth of food, so you can save a lot of money and the freshman fifteen!! it seemed that the school really care about what people eat, and the cafeteria actually posted nutrition labels for each food. there was also the 72-flavor ice cream shop on campus, using the milk from the cows they have on campus. the ice cream was very good :-P
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
live in a hotel off campus and get a car. the hotels off-campus were cheap and closeby. the town was not crowded so it wasn't too hard to drive around. but there were no parking spaces on campus.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
eat at the dining hall. the food was good and you pay for how much you eat, not the all you can eat buffet stuff.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
it was pretty much a college town, which was nice but can get boring after awhile. the capitol was right next to the campus so it's easy to get a job there
