Washington and Lee University Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent -
There is a honor code which has little tolerance. In turn, people are more open and friendly.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 5 - Excellent -
Southern hospitality.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent -
School on the hill with southern colonial architecture. Very impressive.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent -
Clean. And airy.
Dormitories: 4 - Very Good -
Not top of the country. But, better than the majority.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent -
School onthe hill. Town small and safe. And, VMI has ominous presence only a feww hundred yards away.
Overall Campus Impression: 4 - Very Good -
Liked it a lot. Little more Lee than Washington. Cotillion and southern tradition shows.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 4 - Very Good -
Cute. Not a Harvard Square, but cute.
City/Town/Community: 4 - Very Good -
I liked the feel to the small town. I liked the hills -- live n Florida.
Campus Visit Notes for Washington and Lee University:
Visit Description:
They are very nice. I had to go as my wife had accident and was sent to hospital Monday before Thursday departure for "college trip" with daughter (nonrefundable). Then, on day we arrived, wife whisked to unscheduled surgery -- first of four. My mind was far from Virginia. And, apparently my daughter mentioned this and they reacted to this situation as well as anyone could. Very professional and courteous.
We had to park at the base of the hill. Good aerobics to walk up the hill for admissions office. Had to walk back and forth a few times as cell only worked at base and I called doctors and friends for results of surgery.
I love Virginia's natural bueaty and this school exemplifies much of what I adore. I also fell in love with greenery of North Carolina. Two great states with great schools -- public and private.
Pre-law and writing people should focus on thsi place. Sciences are strong, but not as renowned.
