Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Visited during the summer but there were a couple students, as well as some locals, walking around campus and everyone was very nice.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - Didn't interact with any, though most staff members have been nice by phone.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Huge, majestic, beautiful campus with great old landmarks everywhere. It's amazing that we get to live and study in such buildings.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Everything looked well kept. Construction was going on but contained.
Dormitories: 4 - Very Good 4 - Very Good - From the outside they look clean. The Foss Hill Dorms aren't gorgeous or anything but they look very well kept. As another reviewer said, some remind me of a motel.
Security/Safety: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - There are plenty of people around and campus is surrounded by a nice neighborhood. Main Street, activity, and police are located a block or two from campus.
Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Wow. I wasn't expecting it to be this great.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Old quaint houses surround campus and it becomes hard to distinguish where university owned buildings end and the neighborhood begins. Town is very close by and lit up at night.
City/Town/Community: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - I hear a lot about Middletown being on the poor side. We were surprised in that it looks no different from the rest of CT and has a great old New England town feel to it.
Campus Visit Notes for Wesleyan University:
Visit Description: Having looked at every picture online, I came to Wes expecting the campus to be aesthetically mediocre but was greatly surprised by the sheer beauty of its majestic, rolling campus. There are massive trees everywhere (especially the one in front of Russell House) and paths running beneath them leading to classes. The view from my dorm (Nicolson) down Foss Hill is breathtaking and College Row is truly a sight to behold. The Foss Hill dorms are all located so close to each other and the center of campus making for an excellent sense of community. Even the farther housing, including the wood houses on Washington Street, are not far away at all.

Middletown is a fantastic town with everything you'd need: the ideal college town. Main Street is lit up at night and packed. The firefighters sit outside in front of the station and greet people as they walk by, people dine outside at most restaraunts, there's a movie theatre located a block or two from campus, etc. Just everything you need.

In the end, I was most amazed at the size of the campus, the rolling hills, and how well kept everything is. I've been to a decent number of colleges so far. Up until now, Columbia University was the best I've seen. Wesleyan's takes the cake.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments: Stayed at the Comfort Inn but wish I'd stayed at the Inn at Middletown.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments: First and Last on Main St. has great Italian that's very affordable.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.): As soon as you see the little red signs with building names and "Wesleyan University," you've made it. These are everywhere and remind you of the history and significance of the buildi
