Middletown is a poor town, and Wesleyan is located right in the middle of it;
The fact that it is a completely open campus does not help. |

I felt very safe walking around campus at night; there were plenty of those blue emergency stations. |

There are plenty of people around and campus is surrounded by a nice neighborhood. Main Street, activity, and police are located a block or two from campus. |
