Visit to Yale University in April 2006 by Joecool866 (Student, HS Class of 2007)
Visit Activities:
Admissions Interview: No - Didn't have an interview. Still accepted to and attend Yale University.
Information Session: Yes - Once accepted and Yale was wooing the few number of students in the area to matriculate.
Campus Tour: Yes - Took when in the summer of '04 when I was a sophomore transitioning to a junior in high school. I graduated in '07 due to extenuating circumstances.
Classroom Visit: Yes - During my stay for Bulldog Days. I would have gone regardless. The overnight stay was enough to convince me, because the people were all amazing!
Yale University Campus:
Friendliness/Courtesy of Students: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - I was absolutely shocked that Yale included some of the most brilliant students as well as good looking and extremely sociable and friendly.
Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Top notch. Bulldog Days showed me that and current enrollment at Yale has not proved that to be untrue.
Appearance of Campus: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Gothic architecture encircles you. You truly feel as if you were Harry Potter as well as gaining a REAL education. It's absolutely AMAZING.
Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - New Haven might not be so clean and brilliant, but the campus sure was. That's what happens when you have such a large endowment (pun lol).
Dormitories: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Suites everywhere. Harry Potter should be jealous. Unless you live in Morse or Stiles.
Security/Safety: 3 - Good 3 - Good - New Haven is New Haven. Be smart and you'll be safe.
Overall Campus Impression: 5 - Excellent 5 - Excellent - Yale's campus is unbeatable. No qualms. Nothing. End of story.
Off-Campus:
Area Immediately Around Campus: 2 - Fair 2 - Fair - I won't be biased or lie, New Haven isn't pretty, but stay on campus and once again, you feel like Harry Potter every step of the way.
City/Town/Community: 2 - Fair 2 - Fair - If you're interested in Yale and seriously considering, at this point you should get the drift.
Campus Visit Notes for Yale University:
Visit Description: Read my statements above. You get the idea.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments: OMNI hotel, but usually booked and pricey. Stay at Yale if you can.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments: ANYWHERE. New Haven't cuisine is so diverse and amazingly delicious.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.): YORKSIDE. Sure it's food, but it's a hell of a blast. Oh, and Mory's. If you can get in and have membership. If you're really lucky maybe George H.W. is stopping by.
