Summer Pre College art programs

Are there any pre-college art programs that are still accepting applications out there(preferably in California)? Both Academy of Art and CSSSA had passed deadlines and California College of the Arts still has rolling admissions but aren't giving anymore scholarships/financial aid. I would appreciate any suggestions.

how old are you? they accept younger kids, too.

Im 17 turning 18 in April.
Oh wow Kansas is so much cheaper than Otis. I think I'll talk to my parents about this. Thanks again!

marie walsh sharpe is accepting applications until april 6! the program is very specific to drawing and painting which may not be your thing, but if it is-- tuition is free and i've heard the experience is amazing and intense in terms of learning/instructors/your peers. it's only two weeks during the summer so if you are accepted and decide to go to another summer program, you could possibly fit in two summer experiences. pretty neat.

also, i don't know if this will make you feel any better-- i did csssa a couple years ago and i found it kind of disappointing/limiting in terms of assignments/class, at least in the drawing/painting/printmaking majors. animation/performing arts/music seemed to have the most fulfilling curriculum. also, curfew was at 10:30 and we weren't allowed to walk/drive/take public transportation anywhere except to the grocery store/michael's. !!

(i really don't mean to knock on csssa so much, as i loved my classmates and instructors. lots of variety in 'majors' and interests in everyone i met, interesting speakers each week.)

@dystaxia The only reason why I was looking at CSSSA, CCA, and Academy of Art was because they had an animation program. But thank you for the suggestion! I will also consider this program as well.

read and compare carefully, KCAI is 3weeks, Otis is 4 weeks.
location, who is teaching (some local artist's summer job or the school's legit faculty) length of actual day to day instruction, how rigorous it is, what they'd feed you, etc all affect costs.
if you are a senior already, for example, you might find bunch of 15 year old classmates uninspiring. Otis and KCAI take them, while most other residential pre college don't until they finish soph and at least 16.
I loved KCAI when I saw but not for everyone because of its location.
apply both for scholarships, anyways. then again, compare pros and cons.
don't forget to factor in travel expense, how to carry supplies and works done to and from.

SFAI (San Francisco Art Institute) might still be accepting applicants, and it's a GREAT program.

How do you guys find this? I spent an hour looking for programs like these and they haven't shown up?
@bearsanddogs I dont think I'll do Otis, it sounds too intense for me plus expensive. Not to mention the tuition doesn't include housing and supplies. But Kansas is the opposite and really cheap.
@fourleaf93 Yes they're still accepting applications until June 1! This is exciting, I need a life drawing lesson and SFAI has it! The thing is Im not really interested in any of those other classes.

PS Im really into animation and still looking for a pre college that offers that as well.

Just got a notice in the mail for pre-college from Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Don't know much about the school, but I think it's mostly fine arts, painting, etc. Might be worth a look for someone tho.

If you are willing to travel to Kansas City, is Minneapolis too far? D went to MCAD's summer session last year and loved it. Weather was great too. They have Animation.

@mom4art Thanks! Yay an animation class! My mom wouldn't have a problem if I get a good scholarship/financial aid. Just the airfare and extra money I need. Do I have to pay for supplies as well or does it come with the tuition?

As far as I recall (oldtimers sets in), the price of the tuition was it. Good luck with the scholarship. I think the portfolio for that is due in mid May.
