Do any film schools require a portfolio or demo reel?

My son did a portfolio DVD of his films and animations for his application into the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University. But are there any other schools that require/accept a portfolio or demo reel?

UCF and CSU-Northridge wanted to see your work. FSU and USC didn't when my son applied a few years ago. They only wanted you to list and discuss your portfolio. At the time, North Carolina School of the Arts specifically did not want you to submit a portfolio to their film school.

Yes. Most colleges I've looked into (for film; specifically, NYU and SCAD) accept a 10-minute DVD of your material, and IMNSHO, that's the best thing to submit. USC wants a portfolio list and writing samples. Syracuse accepts a DVD, I believe, as does Emerson.

The respective university's website is your best friend for this type of thing.
