CCA SAIC or MICA

My daughter just got back from a CCA campus visit and has been offered equally strong financial aid packages from both CCA and SAIC...she really liked that the freshman campus at CCA is small and you can ease yourself into the urban campus as opposed to SAIC where you are right in the hub of a big, wonderful city. She really liked Chicago, but the weather in San Francisco seemed "brighter" to her. She also really liked MICA, but their financial aid package wasn't quite as strong as CCA and SAIC. This is a really tough decision. I know the classes at SAIC are challenging, which is great, but I heard that the workload at CCA may not be challenging enough.

Could you please let us know what CCA, SAIC and MICA stand for?

I am not familiar with these schools.

Thanks!

If you don't know these schools, you probably shouldn't be on this board.

I applied to both MICA and Pratt. Pratt gave somewhere around $2,000 more in finanical aid. I didn't see this as too big of a difference to make my decession, so I finially was able to visit MICA. The tour was great and the people there are very kind, I'm pretty sure I'll be attending, unless my parents back out because we still have to pay around 20,000 a year.
However, when we were there, a finanical aid worker talked to us, and had us send my Pratt offer and MICA ended up giving me a 1,500 grant. It's small, but everything helps.

My research indicates:

CCA = California College of Art

SAIC = School of the Art Institute of Chicago

MICA = Maryland Institute College of Art

Momoftwo,

How is your daughter finding CCA? My son has Pratt, RISD and CCA in his list. I am concerned about the split campus affecting the sense of unity at the school. Do the freshman stay solely at the Oakland campus?
