My son auditioned @ Wagner on Sunday, 2/26. At the Q&A with parents and faculty, we were told 350 applied to the Theater program. Of the 350, 200 were invited to audition, based on passing the academic entrance standards. 20 students submitted by video, 180 attended onsite. The school is looking to yield 36 in the freshman class; admissions would not give a definite # as to spots offered to yield that #; would probably depend on the amount of talent that turned out. However, in the afternoon sessions of approx. 90 auditioners, about 1/3 (including my son) were asked to remain for a brief interview after they'd completed the entire audition process (dance call/vocals/monologues). I would imagine the morning session may have yielded similar #s. Good luck to all who auditioned!

Are they out if not asked to stay

My D auditioned on the same day. She was not asked to remain after the audition. Would you assume this means that she will not be accepted?

I would not assume anything. It's difficult to say how each school selects its next class. At auditions, sometimes the panel hears and sees enough of a student that they like and don't need to speak with them. Hope good news comes your D's way!

I would not attach any importance to being asked for an interview ( I think it could either because of interest or indecision) 2 of my D's friends were not asked to an interview and got called and accepted. Both auditioned on the same day; one in the morning and one in the pm. My D has not heard anything but it seems like the calls that have been made have been to the guys. Has any D's heard anything yet?

My "unofficial daughter #2" was accepted via phone call on Thursday, March 8. I brought her to the PM audition on the 26th.

We have not heard anything from Wagner yet as of today. And none of the kids in the morning session that we were with stayed for an interview, though they did have a brief post audition meeting with my D's group. Maybe that is what the afternoon session was as well.

She just emailed her admissions counselor and he said she should be receiving her letter any day..which doesn't sound good considering they made calls.

It's ok, she is already set on Pace, but rejection is still a bitter pill regardless

Lulusmom2: My actual D who also auditioned in the PM on the 26th also did not receive a call yet. She was invited to interview and did receive an email a few days ago stating that phone lines have been down...whatever that means

My D was not interviewed and did not receive a letter. I called today and was told she was admitted and her letter would arrive next week.

My D was waitlisted for musical theater, and was offered dance, and theater/speech and theater/education as alternatives. Which is better than the rejection letter she was expecting.

My daughter was also wait-listed. Obviously not as bad as another rejection but a painful process!

My D received package on Saturday. Waitlisted for Performance, but on "short list". Ironicially, received Presidential Merit Scholarship too...2nd best $$ to date : )
