Official WashU 2017 Discussion and Results Thread

ED application deadline has passed and let's start the discussion thread.
I am copying from last year's ED thread.

If you want to post your stats, skip the first lines and the reflection section (Those are for saying whether you got accepted, waitlisted, or rejected and why you think you got accepted or rejected, respectively). Erase the spaces in the beginning brackets to make it work.

Glad someone made this thread. Though judging from other people's comments it doesn't seem like Wash U releases decisions until the first or second week of December... so we've still got some waiting to do :(

I applied ED...I can't wait until we find out! So nervous

Last year decisions were posted online on Friday, Dec 9th at 5:01 PM CT.
    I remember waiting.
The year before was on Friday also.
I would guess they will post them on Friday, Dec 7th this year at 5:00 PM CT.

    GL to all.

Has anyone ever heard of WashU contacting students and/or counsellor before the results were released for any reason? I thought I read something similar on some other threads once.

Doesn't happen. Everyone finds out online the same day.

I know it's it too early to be counting down the days, but I think I'm more anxious about ED than my D is. If Dec 7th really is the date, we have less than two weeks to go. Good luck everyone (students and parents alike).

early notification does occasionally occur. i am technogically challenged and cannot paste the link to the forum but if you search "early acceptance but applied rd" you will find the thread (2008).

seeing this thread is making me nervous already....

Yofaith, 2008 will be 4 classes ago. I can tell you no one I know has applied RD and received early acceptance. There is no reason for WashU to do that. I could hurt their ED application #s in the future and they aren't going to take that risk.

Anyone know how they view the quarter grades for seniors? Obviously the good grades are a plus but do they particularly base the final decision on those? Also, how are the grades for different subjects viewed? For example, I want to major in a liberal arts major and am not particularly strong in Mathematics or Science. Will lower grades in those classes matter significantly or do they see the grades in context? Thanks.

There is one (and ONLY one) exception to this that I am aware of. And that is merit scholarship finalists, who find out about a month early in Feb. It is not an official notice, but I have never heard of a finalist who did not get accepted.

But yeah, I have no idea what yofaith and the other thread is talking about. The other recent mention of this was someone talking about a friend of a friends daughter or some other such nonsense, of which I do not believe.

Johnson, I agree with you. Being notified because you are a finalist in Feb is not what has been stated in recent post - they are claiming RD applicants being notified in December with ED applicants or even earlier than that. Just not happening. Maybe they are thinking of another college.

Yoadee, I believe first quarter Sr yearl grades are treated the same as all grades. They are evaluating them before making a final decision. What major you are applying for is not important. They are not accepting you for a specific major.

Is anyone else already getting insane waves of anxiousness/nervousness at random points in the day? Yeah... I am.
