Interview

So i got an email yesterday from a WashU alum saying that WashU contacted him and asked him to offer me an interview. I haven't applied yet, but I have sent in the pre-application data sheet. sooooo does everyone get this opportunity (if there's an alum in their area) or is it some "special" thing? I just have no idea and I'm kind of curious, but either way, I'm accepting the interview offer!

Any advice about the interviews? Like what questions they ask and how to dress?

Thanks!

Wow, congrats on the invite. My next door neighbor conducts some alumni interviews for Wash U andI haven't been contacted hahaha, well I admit I already had one on campus. I'd say that interviews are very valuable opportunities to show the University how much you want to attend. Remember, they have to sift through many highly qualified applicants in order to parse them down to a freshman class. When I was interviewed, the setting was extremely laid back although I don't know how yours will be as mine was held in one of the many dininh halls on campus by a student and a faculty member.

Dress for success, show them your enthusiasm for their school. As for questions, they were pretty run of the mill e.g. what do you want to do in college? What are your future plans/ favorite extra curricular activities etcetera.

Hope this helps and good luck on your interview.

^If you had an interview on campus, you won't be offered an alum interview.

^^They pretty much offer an alum interview to everyone if there's someone in your area.
I found out I was offered one 3 months after the alum had called me, when I was cleaning up the voicemail. Fail. Needless to say I never had that interview...

@Johnson181 haha that's happened to me a couple of times, like, "When did XYZ University call?" the interview that I had however was an informal get together during the Discovery Weekend this past September. I wasn't sure whether it constituted to an interview that would be used for admission decisions though. I guess it did because I haven't been offered another alumni one :]
