housing for freshman?

Got in and need to put in housing request. Recommendations for freshman housing choices? It seems like the downtown campus is more convenient to classes and other stuff but is it better as a freshman to live in the towers to meet and be with most of other freshman? Thanks

That's what I was looking for, too!! Did you find any info? I know I'm doing honors college, but you don't have to stay in the honors dorms, so I'm trying to figure out how strict they are...

If I go, I'm definitely doing Towers. That's where all the freshman are and it's not that difficult to get back downtown. It's just part of the freshman experience I feel.

I know this thread is old but hope someone is still reading.

I'm a mom of a current freshman at WVU. My daughter started out in Brooke Tower. The dorm is fairly decent and the setup is good. It is a complex and your food, bookstore, tutoring, etc. is all within the complex. All freshman, lots of people, and things to join if you are so inclined.

I feel, though, that I should you warn you that my daughter ended up hating being in the Towers and has just moved into a dorm on the downtown campus.

All her classes are downtown, and most of the friends she made live in the downtown dorms. All the good "action" happens downtown. On the weekends, it is VERY difficult to get back to your dorm after 10:30 pm. when the PRT stops. The bus service is there but fairly much OFF schedule. She has had to wait over an hour for a bus and has often taken a cab back to her dorm. Finally, she just got disgusted and spent a lot of time sleeping on a friend's floor at one of the downtown dorms. Mornings are another issue as the PRT can have issues. In other words, it *can* be difficult at times to get to class and at other times it's a breeze.

Having been through this, I would strongly recommend a downtown dorm. That's not to knock the Towers. They are good dorms, they are well-run, lots of freshman, etc. But not all that convenient unless many of your classes are on the Evansdale campus (engineering, medicine, agriculture.)
