When we were there, Robin Lewis told us that they are in the process of switching over. So the students that enter as freshmen this year will enter into the BM program but will graduate with BFA's.

The reality is that the letters are far less important than the actual training. Look at the curriculum to see if what they are offering is what you want to be learning. If it is, then don't worry about those letters!

FYI, as of orientation week, BFA in MT still not approved and entering freshman are in BM Musical Theatre program. This is fine for my S#2 as he is very much a musician (piano) and singer. I encourage interested students/parents to contact school with specific questions but my understanding is BFA still must be approved by several governing bodies, (slow process) including accrediting organizations and the state of New Jersey. Therefore the school is leery of promising what is essentially something out of their control. But Robin Lewis and Mariann Cook are proceeding with plans that BFA will be approved -- hopefully by next fall. Students already enrolled with have option to stay in BM track if they prefer. Again, agreed with Tracyvp above that the stated curriculum must meet your needs first, and the current program suits S#2 just fine. He will supplement some dance and is even considering adding a minor or double major in arts admin as his AP scores and placement testing results have given him some room in his schedule.

For anyone who's keeping track, my D said the faculty at Rider talked about this very subject this week at MT lab and said it looks like the BFA will be approved to begin Fall 2013. No promises yet - but its looking good for this Fall.
